The project ‘Ties of freedom’ aims to appeal to the memory of communities and create awareness of the need for vonstant efforts to guarantee the EU’s key values.

In a context where democracy is increasingly challenged, the project aims to raise awareness, preserve European memory, and empower young people to become active defenders of fundamental rights.

Our project is aimed at three distinct but complementary audiences : the elderly, teenagers and children. Both groups play an important role in the understanding, transmission and evolution of ideas around political systems such as democracy and authoritarian regimes.

The elderly have often experienced historical periods marked by major political changes with wars, authoritarian regimes, democracy and else. Their direct or indirect experience of authoritarian regimes and democracy gives them a valuable perspective. By including them in the project, we hope to:

  • Valuing their memories and experiences,
  • Enable them to pass on their knowledge to younger generations,
  • Create an enriching space for intergenerational exchange.

Our other target group is young people and children, because they are the future citizens. It’s essential that they understand the challenges of democracy and the dangers of authoritarian regimes. Through this project, they will be able to:

  • Develop a critical approach to information and political discourse,
  • Understand the importance of freedom, human rights and civic participation.
